Incorrect death date for John Snr. The death date for 1884 actually refers to his grandson who died near Coonamble and was married to Mary Ann Ansell. John Snr was buried beside his wife at St John's Cemetery Parramatta and both headstones are still there.

Birth dates for John vary from 1745 to 1761 John Thurston and his six sons Ezekiel, John, Daniel, Robert & William were all transported to NSW as convicts over a two year period, they were later joined by wives and children. 13/9/1779: Married Susannah Lock at Deopham, Norfolk, England, they had 7 children. 6 Dec 1809: JOHN THURSTON, SUSANNAH THURSTON, and JEREMIAH THURSTON, were indicted for burglariously breaking and entering the dwelling house of Thomas Sedgwick, esq. about the hour of two, on the night of the 6th of February, with intent to steal, and burglariously stealing therein, two gowns, value 10 s. a great coat, value 1 l. two desart spoons, value 1 l. and a silver table spoon, value 12 s. the property of Thomas Sedgwick, esq.; and a gown, value 10 s. the property of Elizabeth Ive. To this indictment the prisoner, John Thurston pleaded GUILTY. Jeremiah Thurston's Defence. I remember the time of my father giving her the gowns, I know nothing of them; I know nothing of the charge laid against me. Susannah Thurston's Defence. I was not at home; was in the country, one hundred and twelve mile off when the robbery was done. JOHN THURSTON, GUILTY - DEATH, aged 50. SUSANNAH THURSTON, NOT GUILTY. JEREMIAH THURSTON, NOT GUILTY. First Middlesex jury, before Mr. Baron Graham 30/6/1834: John was buried at St John Church of England Cemetery, Parramatta. To the Memory of JOHN THURSTON Who departed this Life June 28th 1834 Aged 89 years A good Father Farewell vain world I knew Enough of the [sic] And I am carelefs what thou says to me, What faults you see in me take care to shun For in the grave no work is to be Done
