Henry Tilling was born Oldbury on The Hill, Glos. son of John Tilling and Mary Penson Tilling. At the age of 19 he was jailed for stealing two pigs. At age of 22 in 1829 he was arrested for cutting down a Pine Tree on the Duke of Beaufort Estate. 1834 he caused the death another convict.3 years added to his 7 yr sentence. 1841 he was given a conditional pardon.
