Freemans Journal 17 March 1818 page 4 Limerick Assizes The following were convicted in the County Court: *Timothy Corkery for cow stealing * and Timothy Feighney for robbing the Cork mail boy between Croom and Charleville, both to be hanged. Both were reprieved and arrived in NSW with Life sentences: Corkery - on “Tyne” 1819: aged 48 a native of Cork Co, labourer FEHANY - on Earl St Vincent: aged 30, native of Limerick County. Timothy Fehany (this name was probably ‘Feeney’ or such, given the Irish newspaper spelling) was tried at Co Limerick Assizes, found guilty, and pardoned with a Life sentence for transportation. He arrived on the Convict ship Earl St Vincent in December 1818, being described on the ship indents as follows: Labourer, native place County Limerick, Aged 30 years (born approx 1798). He was a very tall man for the times, being recorded as 6ft &1/4 inches tall, brown haired, blue eyes and a ruddy pock-pitted complexion. Dec 1818 - On list of convicts disembarked from the 'Earl St Vincent' and forwarded to Parramatta for distribution; listed as Fahoney.’ 1822 September Muster: As Feaney, Timothy per 'Earl St Vincent’, trial sentence 7 years [recorded incorrectly].In government employment at Parramatta 1823, March - On lists of prisoners transported to Port Macquarie per ‘Sally’. As Fehaney 1825 Muster: As “Cochrane’, Timothy per ‘Tyne’ trial sentence 7 years. Free by Servitude. Employmed as labourer at Parramatta. 1828 Muster Timothy Fehaney, per per 'Earl St Vincent’,. Trial sentence 14 years [?!] Now Govt Servant; as Labourer; to Alex McLeod, at Luskintyre in the Hunter Valley 1836 - Convict Death Register AGED 48 years, Died: 1836; at Newcastle Hospital NSW Employer: George Busby. 1836 BURIAL, 28 January 1836, at Christ CHuch, Newcastle, registered in Newcastle Church of England death register as no 266. Clergyman C P Wilton. Deceased aged 48 years, Ticket of Leave holder.
