Convict Notes
Recorders Court- Friday. Timothy Kidney, John Stafford and Francis Powell, were indicted for stealing half a hundred of lead, the property of Mr. James O'Hea on the 5th of August. Guilty. Kidney was sentenced to 7 years transportation, and the others to 6 months each imprisonment, with a whipping. Cork Examiner, 15 Aug 1842.
Timothy Kidney was 20 years old on arrival, his native place was County Cork - he was transported for 'Stealing 1 cwt of lead'. Prior Convictions: for iron 1 mth; 3 mths for clothes; for brushes acquitted. Timothy was 5'4 1/4" tall, sallow complexion, brown hair, light hazel eyes, 2 moles inside left arm, hands freckled, illiterate, single, Mother: Mary at native place. 5/11/1850: Free Certificate. 26/6/1851: Tried at Oatlands for stealing wearing apparel, the property of Edward Swarbeck Hall - to be imprisoned in HM Gaol at Oatlands for 3 weeks. 31/7/1881: Timothy Kidney died of 'Brain Disease', aged 58, at the Hospital for the Insane, Cascades, and was buried at the Cornelian Bay Cemetery, Paupers section.
