John Tollard was 23 years old on arrival in VDL. He was convicted along with William, John, and Daniel Simms for Feloniously assaulting Lucy Easton, putting her in bodily fear and danger of her life, and stealing on half sovereign, the money of William Easton, clerk. The Simms and John had gone to Mr Easton's to see about and increase in wages, when William Sims demanded money from Mrs Easton. Parents: Richard and Martha Tollard. John married Sarah Noyce on 9/10/1830 and they had one son, Henry and perhaps another son, Robert. John was 5'8 1/4" tall, swarthy complexion, black hair, no whiskers, grey eyes, could read and write. 1835: TOL 3/2/1836: Free Pardon. 1836: Permission to marry Ann Neale/Neat (transported as Ann Neal per Ne Grove) age 19 and John listed as a free man. They had 12 children. 26/10/1867: John won 3rd prize in a ploughing match at the Cambridge ploughing match and won £2. 27/7/1876: John died in Bellerive, aged 73 after a long and painful illness with mouth cancer.
