War Office Records. Registers Court Martial. https://nla.gov.au/nla.obj-1606817474/view Private Charles Tothill, Grenr. Guards, 3rd Battn, Tried at Tower of London, 26 Dec 1823, Laid before the King, 8 Jan 1824. charges, Desertion. Sentence: Transportation as a Felon for 7 years.




Charles Tothill was about 24 years old on arrival in NSW. Colonial Secretary Papers: TOTHILL, Charles. Per "Countess of Harcourt", 1824 1824 Jul 17: On list of convicts landed from the "Countess of Harcourt" and forwarded to Bathurst for distribution (Reel 6013; 4/3511 p.653) 1824 Aug 27: On list of prisoners lately received at Bathurst (Reel 6028; 2/8283 p.108) 28/4/1831: COF 7/7/1837: Married Mary Barnett at Camden. No births found. 21/6/1861: Sydney Morning Herald: At San Francisco, California, Charles Tothill Esq., late a resident of this Colony, died 15/1/1861. There was also a Charles Tothill living on a run on the Murray River in South Australia.
