Convict Notes

James Towns married my 2nd gggm Margaret Edwards Alyward in about 1852 and they had one female child in 1854. Margaret who was a convict married three convicts including brothers Michael and Thomas Magner. James is buried in the Walcha Cemetery. Several death dates recorded. Including 23rd Nov 1884. Probate was granted in 1885.

James Towns had been married to an Ann Bacon in Polstead, Suffolk, they married 15th March 1835. (Ann's father Abraham Bacon had also been transported to Australia in 1822). Two years after they married James was convicted and transported, I don't believe James and Ann had any children that I could find, Ann went on to have three children with an unknown father, and then went onto marry Henry Cousens and have three more children.
