Convict Notes
At our Assizes, which ended Tuesday, last, at Horsham, before the Chief Baron and Mr. Justice Heath, 20 prisoners were tried, 11 of whom were capitally convicted and receiving sentence of death, viz. ... —Cephas Tree and Mary Tree, daughter, for burglary in the dwelling house of Mr. Jenkins, Brighton. ... All the above unhappy convicts were reprieved before Judges left the town, except Robert Bignall, and Cephas Tree, who were left for execution. Kentish Gazette, 31 March 1807. -------------------------------------------------------- Cephas Tree, who, with his daughter, was convicted, at the late Assizes for this county, of stealing money and notes from Edward Jenkins, of Horsham, and was left for execution, is since reprieved. Hampshire Gazette, 30 Mar 1807.
