Born Henry Thomas, but known as Thomas. DOB: 23/10/1823, Baptised 20/10/1823 at St Botolph's, Boston, Lincolnshire, England. Children: William Hotson, Ellen Maria, Mary Ann, James Michael, Elizabeth Mary, Henry Thomas, Harriet Agnes, Caroline and George Stephen.

Possible alternative birthdate of 29 Oct 1823. Also may have been called Henry Thomas. (ACC 1156 - Reel R20-21A - Vol R20). Dictionary of Western Australia Vol 3: Trott, Thomas, b 1822 - unmarried - mason - literate - Protestant, convicted Lincoln 1847 - stealing with assault; 15 years' sentence; arr 'Scindian' 1 June 185> 0 (No 11) Ticket of Leave 3 Dec 1850 Exp 6 Feb 1863. Trott, Thomas marr Ellen Meade (Medden) Dict WA Vol 4 Pt 2 L-Z (1868-1888) 15 Aug 1851 Living children listed on death certif are William Hotson, Ellen Maria, James Michael, Eliza, Henry Thomas, Harriet illeg, Caroline, George Stephen and 1 female illeg (probably 'deceased'). Family Stories Life in Australia: Henry Thomas Trott was transported to WA aboard the Scindian which left Portsmouth, England on March 4 1850, bound for the Swan River Colony. This was the first of 37 shipments of male convicts destined for Western Australia. The voyage took 89 days and the Scindian arrived in Fremantle on June 1, 1850 with 200 passengers and 75 male convicts. Trott Thomas [aka Henry Thomas]: was registered as convict No 11; Occupation - mason; he was single at the time and listed as; Height 5'5"; Hair brown; Eyes blue; Face oval; Complexion brown; Build stout; Distinguishing Marks Marked with smallpox; Term 15y; Age 28; Trial Place Lincoln Assizes in 1847; Criminal Offence Stealing & Assault in company with others (apparently in a gang known as the Sluice Rangers); Ticket of Leave Date 3 Dec 1850 Ticket of Leave Place Fremantle Expiree 6 Feb 1863 Known Areas Fremantle, Irishtown, Serpentine, Bunbury Kin Son of Hodson & Maria nee BARKER, Boston, Lincoln, brother of James (3408 who was also transported to WA but "died" in police custody on the road to Albany) Permission to Marry 30.6.1852 Married Ellen MEADE 15/25 Aug 1851 Fremantle Comments Reconv Ellen can to WA on the Hashemy from England with her sister Julia and pensioner-guard brother-in-law William White. Henry's ticket of leave expired in 1863 and he was granted 4 acres of land in Bunbury. Henry built himself a home and set up as a building contractor - this house still stands today in King St. Henry and Ellen lived on the property until their deaths, they were said to be well respected members of the community. One of their grandchildren wrote that "grandfather was a stern old man who would stand no nonsense, but was always affectionate". After Ellen's death Henry expressed a desire to become a Catholic because "I want to be burried with Ellen".
