Convict Notes
Commission Court, Green-Street. A city petit jury was then sworn. Anthony Tunsill was indicted for ?? two cows and two calves, on tbe 2d February last. Pat. Brunty- I live in Balruddery. I remember 2d February, lost two cows and two calves on the evening of that day ; never saw the cows afterwards; got the calves in Summer-hill on Mon- day after, at Mrs. Legat's house; the cows were worth 15? ; I saw prisoner in the field from which the cows were stolen that evening; thought he looked very wishful at them. William Nelson- I live in Summer-hill; I have been employed by the prisoner; he brought me to the ?? on the to the 2d of February, to Tallaght; we drove two cows out of a field there- (witness described the field) we brought them into town, to Summer-hill ; they were put into a field on the side of the Canal; the cattle remained there until next morning; I saw the calves at Mrs. Legat's on Summer-hill, at eight o'clock on Sunday morning. Eliza Legatt, live on Summer.hill; know the prisoner, Tunsil; I saw him at six or seven on Friday evening ; he turned two calves into my yard, and came on Monday night and took them away. After the examination of one or or two witnesses, Judge TORRENS summed up, and the jury, without any hesitation, returned a verdict of guilty. William Quin, an eating-house keeper, who had bought the cows from prisoner, was acquitted of having purchased them, knowing them to be stolen. Freemans Journal, 12 April 1832
