UPDATED TURNER ??? (Turner) produced perhaps 2children: CCONVICT?not found ADDED BY ME Apr 2024 1.John (Turner) was tried with his brother Mark & 2others with poaching pheasants in Norford near Swaffham Norfolk & possible house breaking at Surrey Quarter Sessions, sentenced to xxxyears & held at Swaffham Bridewell gaol. ..John (Turner) does not have an entry on this Website as yet; & may indeed not have come to Australia. .. Noted however, a John (Turner) arrived in NSW on 9 7 1791 after a voyage of 6months on Fleet ship WILLIAM AND ANN. He was Free by Servitude by 1798 & had a relationship with Rebecca (Campbell). Rebecca (Campbell) arrived in Australia as a convict. Rebecca (Campbell) does not have an entry on this Website as yet. John (Turner) & Rebecca (Campbell) produced 1child: 1.Catherine (Turner) was born on 29 8 1798 & baptised on 23 12 1798 at St Johns CofE Parramatta. She married firstly at age12 Edward (Lindsey his second marriage) on 20 9 1810 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. She was recorded in 1814 off stores with her family.>>> ..Edward (Lindsey) was born about 1765/72. He was tried at Surrey Assizes on 25 7 1796, sentenced to Life & arrived in NSW on 18 5 1798 after a voyage of 8.5monyhs on BARWELL. He was tried on his own for highway robbery w/3others, on 12 9 1786, of basket of clothes from Elizabeth (Monk)at Old Bailey in October 1786, sentenced to death reprieved to Life, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & Newgate Gaol & arrived in NSW as a cobvict on 26 6 1790 after a voyage of 7months on Fleet ship SCARBOROUGH; a voyage noted for extreme brutality of prisoners with a high death rate; he was short thickset long nose smallpox pitted skin. He married (perhaps firstly) Ann (Baker) on 24 4 1792 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. His Conditional Pardon was issued by 1800 & he purchased 30acres near Sydney on which he prodruced grains. He was living at Brickfields with his family in 1804. By 1806 he had sold his farm & was working as basketmaker. He is recorded in 1814 as basketmaker at Sydney with his daughter. He died on 20 11 1816 age57 father of perhaps 5children.
