We have further to announce the arrival on Sunday morning, the 29th instant, of the ship Almorah, with 180 male prisoners, all in excellent health, consequent upon their good treatment upon the passage; she lost not a man. — This vessel sailed from the Downs the 28th of April, arrived at Rio de Janeiro the 15th of June, and sailed on the 23rd; Sydney Gazette, 30 Aug 1817. Almorah 2. Yesterday arrived from Ireland,- the ship Almorah; Captain Winter. She sailed from the Cove of Cork the 22d of August last, and brings 160 male prisoners, all in good health. Surgeon Superintendent, Dr. Alexander, R. N. The guard consists of a party of 30 men belonging to the 1st Regiment of Foot (Royals), under orders of Ensign Bruce. Sydney Gazette, 23 Dec 1820. Almorah 3. On Friday last, arrrived from Ireland, with 108 female prisoners, the ship Almorah, Captain Boyd. She sailed from Cork the 6th of April; reached no where: and, independent of the female prisoners, brings 15 free women, and 50 children. One prisoner, and one child, died on the passage. Dr. Price, R. N. is the Surgeon Superintendent. Sydney Gazette, 26 Aug 1824.

Old Bailey: WILLIAM TYSON, JOHN WHITE. Theft: theft from a specified place. 15th January 1817 Verdict Guilty > theft under 40s Sentence Transportation WILLIAM TYSON and JOHN WHITE were indicted for stealing, on the 21st of December, one piece of floor-cloth, value 3l. the property of John Hare, in the dwelling-house of George Sargon. JOHN TITTERSON. I am a clerk to Messrs. Hares, who keep a shop in Little Queen-street, Lincoln's-inn , Mr. Sargon lives in the house. On the 21st of December, about half past one o'clock in the afternoon, I observed the two prisoners, looking very earnestly in the shop; I watched them; they passed the shop two or three times singly, soon after they both came together, and stood in front of the shop; the prisoner, White, said to Tyson, he is there, he is there; Tyson untied the piece of cloth, and dragged it over the front of the shop, which is about three feet high; he put it on his shoulder; it was within the shop, I ran out, and overtook Tyson with it, about six yards from the shop; he threw it down, and ran away; the prisoner, White, was standing by at the time; I told a person to secure him, while I ran after Tyson; I pursued, and overtook him; I never lost sight of him. ROBERT EDWARDS. I am a constable. On the 21st of December, I heard the cry of stop thief, the prisoner, White, was given into my charge by Titterton. (Property produced and sworn to.) TYSON'S Defence. If he had seen us, would he not have taken us before we took the property. White came to me, and said, he would have the cloth, and I told him not to take it - He said, he would, and took it, and ran away. WHITE'S Defence. I never saw Tyson. EDWARDS. When I took White, he would not own Tyson; but soon afterwards, he called him by his name. TYSON - GUILTY. Aged 18. WHITE - GUILTY. Aged 18. Of stealing to the value of 39s. only. Transported for Seven Years. John White was also onboard. ________________ William Tyson was listed as 18 years old on arrival. Native Place: St. Kitts. William was 5'6½" tall, listed as a half-cast, black hair and eyes. Colonial Secretary Index: TYSON, William Nathanial. Per "Almorah", 1817 1821 Sep 8: Stationary servant. On list of all persons victualled from H.M. Magazines (Reel 6016; 4/5781 p.99) 1822: Watchman at Prisoners Barracks, Sydney. Petition for mitigation of sentence (Fiche 3228; 4/1868 pp.28-28b) 1823 Nov 8: On returns of convicts discharged from the Establishment, Emu Plains; to the Windsor Bench for assignment (Reel 6028; 2/8283 pp.170, 173) William Tyson was also sent to VDL per 'Pilot' 29/7/1817, as was John White who was convicted with him.
