Joseph Underwood was transported for 'Stealing straw'. On his marriage certificate he is listed as 27 years old and a servant. His father was William Underwood, a butcher. In 1841 Catherine and Joseph were living in Wheat Street, St. Margaret, Leicester. Joseph had just been released from 2 months imprisonment. Married Catherine Gibson at Scraptoft, Leicestershire 23 Apr 1838. Catherine and their son followed Joseph to Australia in 1851.
