He had been ailing for some time and died at Thundelarra Station, in the Yalgoo district of Western Australia, from a ruptured blood vessel through violent coughing. His death was certified in writing by Charles Brook, labourer, at the Dongara Police Station, about 180 miles away. His death was registered in the Upper Irwin district in 1889 (435/1889).
