John Urio was 19 years old on arrival, he was born in Bristol and was transported for 'Stealing 5 pairs of gold earrings. Previous convictions: once for Burglary, 2 months for vagrancy, one month for vagrancy. John was 5'6 1/2" tall, reddish brown hair, brown eyes, anchor on Rt arm JU PG anchor Fish Mermaid pipe Jug Bottle Glass & flowers on left arm, single. 2/10/1833: Convicted at Hobart SC - life - to be hanged. 4/10/1833 The Tasmanian (Hobart Town): WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 2. Jonathan Darke and John Urio (the latter a Post-office messenger) were indicted for a burglary in the house of Mr. Francis Stewart of Argyle-street, and of stealing therein money to the amount of about £20. Mr. Stewart was alarmed about five o'clock in the morning, by Mrs. Stewart telling him, that there was somebody robbing the shop; he proceeded thither, and discovered that the till was taken away, and that a hole bad been made in the chimney which projected outside of the house, through which the thieves gained an entrance. John was reprieved and sent to Port Arthur. 24/5/1844: TOL 31/1/1846: Permission to marry Sarah Allen (Emma Eugenia). 3/4/1836: Married at Campbell Town - John listed as 31 and Sarah 27. 1848: At Campbell Town. Nov. 1848: CP Nov. 1852: At Avoca, Tas. 14/3/1859 The Hobart Town Daily Mercury: DIED. At Avoca, on the 9th inst., Sarah, the beloved wife of John Urio, tailor, of Avoca, after a long and painful illness, which she bore with Christian fortitude. (Sarah was listed as 35, she died of Paralysis, Mechanics wife). No further mention of John Urio found.
