Atlas records show: Australian Convict Transportation Registers Name: William Varnham name crossed out and noted against name "Relanded at Porthead having charged Eph Montgomery with an unnatural crime " William Varnham. Aged 19 years of age. Trial: 30 May 1815 at Kingston Upper Canada, arrived at Sydney on the 5 October 1816 per Ship; Elizabeth. Records of General Courts Martial Wm Varnham & John Davies, Privates in Glengarry Lt. Infantry Regt. Tried Kingston Upper Canada, 30 May 1815, Charge, Desertion. Sentence: Transportation as Felons for 14 years.
