Ann VAUGHAN was convicted at Hereford, England on 1 Aug 1846 for burglary and stealing, with 9 other people. 10 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Elizabeth & Henry' arriving 4 Jan 1847. Ship Surgeon's Report: "very well behaved". Aged 23 yrs; widow; plain cook; can read & write; Roman Catholic; swarthy complexion, freckled; dk brown hair; grey eyes. Stated she had lived for 2 years with George Ken..... Native place of Birth: Co. Sligo, Ireland. Mother: Ann (ref. Convict Indent record) Brothers: Bartholomew & John VDL: 6 month Probation Period. 31 March 1848: Application for permission to marry - to John CRUMP (transported per 'Henrietta). 15 May 1848: Marriage: to John CRUMP at Hobart. (ref. 37/1/7 no. 1888) 1850: Returned to Female Factory, Hobart after it was noted that her husband had deserted her and left the Colony. 23 Dec 1851: Ticket of Leave granted. Revoked 1853. Restored 1854. 12 Aug 1856: Certificate of Freedom issued, at Sorell, Tasmania.
