Convict Notes
Henry VAUGHAN was convicted at Kent, England on 2 July 1835 for stealing a watch & keys. Previous offences. 14yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Lord Lyndoch' arriving 20 Aug 1836. Gaol Report: "character bad, orderly once convicted". Hulk Report: "orderly" Ship Surgeon's Report: "good" Single man; aged 29 yrs; 5'4 3/4"; dark complexion; black hair; lt grey eyes; . VDL: Assigned to work services. Some notes of misconduct and punishments. 19 May 1843: Ticket of Leave granted. 22 May 1846: Conditional Pardon approved. (A Henry Vaughan left Hobart for Victoria, in 1846, however there was another convict named Henry Vaughan in the Colony at this time.)
