Venus Newman was indicted on the 31/5/1827 for stealing a watch, 2 seals and 2 keys, value 5l.,& 40s., from George Chalton Elderton. He was the Master of the Endeavour of Shields and went for a drink at the Coach and Horses, Public House, Shadwell. He had too much to drink and fell asleep at the table and woke up to find his goods missing. 23/6/1929: The date of the burial of Venus Newman at age 30 (per nsw gov. convict records).
