There is a possible death record for Letitia- recorded as 'Lydia Wardle' buried 19/08/1835 within St Philips parish, Sydney. Aged 41. Age is exactly right and previous records call her Letia and Wardle.




LANCASHIRE ASSIZES, Tuesday, Aug. 18. CROWN SIDE.— BANK PROSECUTIONS James Waddle, aged 24, and Letitia Waddle, aged 24 (a woman more than ordinarily good- looking, and modest in her demeanour at the bar) charged with the uttering of forged notes, were  persuaded to plead guilty to the possession, and were consequently acquitted of the capital charge They were sentenced to transportation for fourteen years. James Waddle addressed bis Lordship praying his interference to get £22 restored to him, which Miller, the constable, had taken from him His Lordship ordered that any property of that kind should be immediately restored. Miller positively asserted that he had never found any money at all upon his person. Charged with leaving her Employment without leave a assaulting a free woman. To be sent to the Factory have her head shaved and wear a log until further orders 1822 - Wife of James, the scourger and constable at Newcastle; resident with Mr Mudie of Patricks Plains. Refused to join her husband "on account of the peculiarity of his Employment"; Scourger - a person who whips someone 1828 - Census. No; 1417. Age 35. Employment; Mrs Wylde. Cabramatta. G. Letitia Waddle and husband James Waddle were both found guilty of uttering forged notes. 14 yr transportation sentenced. Letitia was sent to New South Wales on the 'Lord Wellington' in 1820. (James came on the 'Baring' 1819.) Letitia - b. 1794 Co. Down, Ireland. 5'5 1/2"; ruddy complexion; Hazel eyes; brown hair. Colony: upon arrival, assigned to Nicholas Bayley at Paramatta, Sydney. 1822 - employed as a nurse at Paramatta hospital. Sent to the Female Factory after leaving her employment and assaulting a female person. After leaving the Factory, was assigned to James Mudie in the Hunter Valley. In 1823 the Mudie family moved to Newcastle on the cutter "Mermaid" and Letitia is listed as accompanying them. 06/09/1827: Sydney Gaol - Letitia was sent to the Female Factory. In 1828 Letitia was recorded at Cabramatta assigned to Joseph Wylde. 1830: Sydney Gaol - on her way to Newcastle. 1835: Certificate of Freedom. Husband James had been assigned a Constable at the Newcastle Penal Settlement. He requested that Letitia and their child join him but she did not go. James was later transferred to Port Macquarie.
