Convict Notes

County Court. Daniel Hayes and William Wade were put the bar for stealing silver out of the house of Mrs. M'Grath, of the Devonshire Arms Hotel, in Dungarvan. Mary Terry proved that she was passing through the town of Dungarvan, when she saw Wade asleep at a door, and the spoon out of his pocket, restored it to Mrs. who it appears had lost in the course of ten eleven spoons. The prisoners had been runners about the kitchen during the Sessions. Mr. Rodolphus Green, of Dungarvan, was produced on the part of the prisoners, who gave Hayes excellent character but the prisoners having both made voluntary confession of their guilt were convicted, and sentenced to transportation for seven years, for which they expressed their thanks to his Lordship. Waterford Mail, 8 Aug 1827.
