Ellen Wainwright was transported on the Prince Of Wales, departing 31st Mar 1787 and arriving 22nd Jan 1788 with 60 passengers.

This ship carried only one male convict and 49 female convicts. She was of 350 tons and skippered by Master John Mason. Built at the Thames in 1786. She operated in England until 1797 when her registration was transferred to Fort Royal, Martinique, after which, little is known.

An addition to the above is: The James (Wilson mentioned here was a gardener when he married Ann (???/Richards COROMANDEL 1802) on 23 4 1811 at St Phillips CofE Sydney, and [Noted this (Ann (???/Richards) arrived in NSW on the same ship as Edward (Warr convict) & may have been a relative of his] .. Noted therefore: CONVICTdone Edward (Warr) was tried at Buckinghamshire Quarter Sessions, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 14 8 1802 after a voyage of 7.5months on COROMANDEL. [Some details taken from this Website] Details of Ann (???/(Richards perhaps previously Ann (Warr))s family are given in entry for Margaret (Darnell PRINCE OF WALES 1788) on this Website.

Family connections for Ellen (Wainwright) are: WAINWRIGHT Eleanor (Wainwright) daughter of ??? (Mainwright sic) & ??? (Eccles) was born in 1769. She was tried for stealing clothes at Preston Lancashire Assizes, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 22 1 1788 after a voyage of 9months on First Fleet ship PRINCE OF WALES. She was assigned to corporal Edward (Fields). She became Free by Servitude before 1801. She associated secondly with Edward (Field) whom she married on 20 2 1805 at St Johns CofE Parramatta & produced 8children. He was tried for stealing an apron etc (possibly unjustly) while employed in London at probably Old Bailey, sentenced to 7years, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 22 1 1788 after a voyage of 12months on First Fleet ship SCARBOROUGH (the same ship as marine Thomas (Lucas); he was a teetotaller. He was quickly sent to Norfolk Island as a first settler on SUPPLY, arriving on 6 3 1788. He associated firstly with Olivia (Gascoigne) & married her in November 1791 in group ceremony on Norfolk Island & produced 13children. On 2 2 1792 or August 1792 he accidentally caused the felling of a tree onto his wife & 3of his children. He is recorded as going to Port Jackson in June 1795. He built many houses on Norfolk Island, became constable & had a water supply contract; he had 15acres (he is recorded with plot no.52 of 60acres in the centre of the island) on Norfolk Island in 1796. He was suspended on 5 9 1800 for impertinence. On 28 2 1805 he travelled to Sydney with his family on INVESTIGATOR. He became a patroller of Greenville Vale in 1806 to maintain order & afterwards building a windmill at Church Hill Sydney Cove; later becoming Superintendent of carpentry; they lived at The Rocks. In 1810 he moved to a land grant farm at Liverpool. Some of the family moved to Port Dalrymple Derwent Tasmania, facilitating trade of their produce between states. In 1815-17 he built St Lukes CofE Liverpool. He was recorded as off stores in Hobart Town on 2 10 1818 & was instrumental in establishing, with others, Tasmanian Hop & Barley Industry in Launceston. In 1817 he may have become estranged from his wife. He died on 5 5 1818 age54 father of 14children, found dead near Moore Bridge George River Liverpool; considering his affliction of painful hereditary Haemacromatosis/cancer of the face/neuralgia, treatment by alcoholic drink despite his abstinence, his marriage separation & differences of opinion with & accusations by the architect of his last project, his death could have been by his own hand or by design-some unfortunate circumstances in the life of an apparantly skillful & resourceful man.] [Some details taken from this Website] Eleanor (Wainwright) & Nathaniel (Lucas) produced 1child: 1.Mary Ann/Mariane (Wainwright) was born on 14 1 1795 on Norfolk Island. She, as Ann (Wainwright/Guy), travelled with her mother to Van Diemens Land (Tasmania) on 3 9 1808 as part of the first evacuation on CITY OF EDINBURGH. He became Superintendent Government stock Hobart & was appointed as such for Derwent Tasmania on 10 10 1810; Provost Marshall Hobart & landholder at New Norfolk. He arrived on Norfolk Island on 4 11 1791. He was Free by Servitude by 1800. In February 1805 he is recorded as a landholder sentence expired off stores on Norfolk Island. He travelled with his family (spouse name Hester (Wainwright)) to Van Diemens Land (Tsmania) on 3 9 1808 as part of the first evacuation (for which volunteers apparantly had been called with appropriate compensation offerred & for which he may have tried to decline as some successful farmers were asked to stay) on CITY OF EDINBURGH, arriving on 5 10 1808. On 21 5 1809 he signed fealty to William (Bligh) Esq. On 2 10 1818 records show he may be at Hobart Town. Thomas (Guy) does not have an entry on this Website as yet-added by me.
