Elizabeth Walker was transported on the Royal Admiral, departing 30th May 1792 and arriving 7th Oct 1792 with 349 passengers.
The Royal Admiral was built at Lynn in 1828. Convicts were transported to New South Wales on the Royal Admiral in 1830, 1833, 1835 and to Van Diemen's Land in 1842. 1833 - Ship; Royal Admiral. Commenced fitting as a Convict Transport at Deptford on the 29 March. Surgeon Superintendent [Andrew Henderson] joined on the 3rd April. Guard embarked on the 13th. Sailed on the 17th and anchored in Kingston Barbour near Dublin on the 9th May. 220 convicts embarked on the 16 May 1833 and the ship sailed from Dublin Bay for Sydney on the 4th June and arrived there on the 20 October. Originally embarked with 221 convicts, 5 Died at sea, 1 was Relanded. 11 sick on shore, The convicts were described as 220 such wretchedly debilitated creatures ... Family connections for Elizabeth (Walker) are: WALKER Elizabeth (Walker aka Allen) was tried at Surrey Quarter Sessions, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 7 10 1792 after a voyage of 4months on ROYAL ADMIRAL. She had a relationship with Charles (Grimes his first relationship) & produced 1child. [Noted an Elizabeth (Allen) is recorded as dying on 7 2 1803 & buried at St Phillips CofE Sydney] [Some details taken from this website] Charles (Grimes) became a surveyor. He arrived in NSW on 21 9 1791 after a voyage of 8months on HMS GORGON. He was sent to Norfolk Island on 11 11 1791 as Deputy Surveyor. He surveyed the island, particularly the lands taken up by soldiers for personal use. After 1792 he purchased 60acres on Norfolk Island for 47lb. He releasd, in 1794, his survey map of settlers lots in area from Sydney Bay to Phillipsburg. He had a second relationship with Elizabeth (Matthews/Doyle). He may have been the surveyor & Surveyor General who measured new farms at Hawkesbury about 1800-2. He produced 2 known children in his lifetime.
