An inquest was held at Hobart Town, on the 17th ultimo, upon the body of Ellen Walsh, uxor Neeves, F.S., per Blackfriar. Verdict--Natural causes. Tasmania Police Gazette, 3rd Feb 1871, p18.




Aged 22yrs; country servant; single; dark complexion; brown hair; blue eyes; Roman Catholic; 5'; native place - Co. Limerick. Assignments of service in Colony. Married George Dawe 09/11/1853 Hobart district (ref. 511/1853-37). 21/02/1854: Resisting a Constable - 6mths hard labour. Ticket of Leave 03/10/1854 Conditional Pardon 17/06/1856 Died (inquest stated natural causes) 17/10/1871 Hobart Town.




Ellen Walsh was convicted at Limerick on 13/04/1850 for receiving stolen goods, although it also states "burning hay". 15 yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the 'Blackfriar' arriving 29/05/1851.
