The Surrey Assizes closed on Saturday. The capital convicts were nineteen in number, viz … John Walton, … for burglary and stealing in a dwelling house; .. The Learned Judge, in a most impressive manner, admonished Simpson and Cook to prepare for their fate, as no mercy could reasonably be extended to them on this side of the grave, the others were reprieved Morning Herald, 8 Apr 1817.
