C1813 Michael Ward married Sophia Jane Ann Elizabeth (surname possibly Prosley or derivative thereof). Sophia had a daughter, also Sophia Jane born C1808. Sophia died in 1874. Michael was then transported – Old Bailey:- THOMAS DODMAN and MICHAEL WARD were indicted for feloniously stealing, on the 16th of February , one gallon and a half of rectified spirits, value 30 s. and one gallon and a pint of rum, value 22 s. the property of John Nicholson and William Nicholson , in their dwelling house.. DODMAN, GUILTY - DEATH , aged 37. WARD, GUILTY - DEATH , aged 26. 18/6/1815: Sophia and daughter arrived free on the ship ‘Northampton. They had 10 more children after Sophia arrived in NSW. July 1815: Sophia petitioned for her husband to receive a TOL so he could support her and her daughter. 17/7/1815: TOL Windsor 1822: Michael Ward, landholder, residing on leased land in the Windsor district with wife Sophia and 4 children. He had 13 hogs and 30 grains of maize in hand. 1828: Michael Ward, laborer, wife Sophia and 6 children residing at Wilberforce. 1833-37: resident of Wilberforce. 10/7/1834: CP 1835: Frederick Ward (the bushranger) was born. C1846: The ward family move to the Maitland area. 4/4/1859: Michael Ward (listed as Hanley Thompson Ward), a dealer, died at West Maitland and was buried at the Church of England burial ground, West Maitland. 9/8/1874: Sophia Jane Elizabeth Ward died at Campbell’s Hill, West Maitland and was also buried at the Church of England burial ground, West Maitland.
