In the colony, Thomas married Elizabeth Buller (Convict, 1796, "Indispensible") at Parramatta, 9th July 1797. This marriage appears to have failed, there was no issue and by 1805 Thomas had inserted a notice into the Sydney Gazette, disclaiming any or all debts made by his wife. Elizabeth then moved into a defacto relationship with Thomas Cowling (Convict, 1792, “Pitt”). Thomas is listed in the 1814 Muster [Ref 0095 page 4] as being off stores and a landholder. In the 1828 Census he is listed [Ref W0439 page 382] Thomas Ward, 60, FS, Admiral Barrington, 1791, Labourer at Richmond. In neither entry is there any mention of a partner.
