George Waring was transported on the Surrey Or Surry, departing 13th Jul 1829 and arriving 14th Dec 1829 with 200 passengers.
Built at Harwich in 1811 a square-rigged transport ship of 443 tons and copper lined she had two decks with a height between decks of 5 ft. 8 ins. In 1818, she had a major refit increasing the decks (and convict carrying capacity) to three. She was owned by the London firm of F. & C.F. Mangles.

George Waring was born at Pringle, Lancashire, he was 24 years old on arrival in VDL and was transported for "Stealing Ducks". Previous convictions: Receiving stolen goods, and a month for a bushel of potatoes. George was 5'3 1/2" tall, light brown hair and whiskers, grey eyes, swarthy pockpitted complexion, single. 1830 Muster: Assigned to Mr. Ralston 1832-35 Musters: Assigned to Mrs. Jane Youl. 26/3/1826: TOL 14/4/1840: CP 5/8/1845: CP extended to all Australian Colonies. 20/7/1849: Free Certificate. 28/2/1841: Permission to marry Margaret Holder (Hindostan 1839). 19/4/1841: Married at Launceston - George was 33 and a Labourer, Margaret was 26 (listed as a prisoner). No children listed. 22/8/1882: George Waring died at Longford, Tas. aged 78.
