William was born at Old Warden, Bedfordshire and baptised 5th June 1831 (his family did them in job lots!). His parents were Thomas Warner and Mary Goodship. The family moved to nearby Biggleswade. Bedford gaol records are on-line and it can be seen that William was often in trouble for poaching and game law violation until the big housebreaking one. In WA he married Annorah Ryan (arrived on the Travencore Jan 1853) in 1853 at Wonnerup Dairy. They had 14 children. He farmed in the Wonnerup/Ludlow area.
