Letitia was found guilty of stealing half a sovereign from the shepherd Spinks Gould in a tavern in East Harling, Suffolk, on September 15 1847. Letty was charged with two previous convictions of felony (theft). She was born in Brockdish, Norfolk, in June 1829. Her parents were John Warn and Mary Welton. I can only find records pertaining to one brother, John. The census of June 1841 sees Letty living in Brockdish with her parents, John, and her grandmother Mary. In September 1847 she was found guilty of stealing half a sovereign from Spinks Gould, and was transported the following April. She arrived in Van Diemen`s Land in August 1848 where she was accommodated on the Anson Hulk. She was declared a free woman in October 1857. She was married on 8 May 1849 to James Nelson, a free man. There is one further criminal record in Hobart in April 1857 where Letty/Sophie was found guilty of disturbing the peace and fined 5/. I have no record after this.
