19/12/1824: Married Jane John – James’ age given as 26 when he married. They had 12 children. Jane was born in the Colony in 1797 – the daughter of Benjamin Johns a soldier in the 102nd regiment. He arrived in NSW aboard the ship 'Boddington's 7 Aug 1793. Mother was Catherine Griffiths. James Watsford husband of Jane Johns, was a convict who made good. James Watsford, Royal Mail pioneer, who owned the first stage coach in Australia, carried the first regular mail from Parramatta to Sydney and is famous for his incredible descent of Mt York. A monument commemorates the initial coach run across the Blue Mountains by James Watsford.
