James was 14 years at conviction he was a native of Brighton employed as an Apothecary's Boy. He was arrested for stealing a cloth. Tried in Liverpool on 21 Apr 1828. Sentenced to 7 years transportation. He was 4ft 11 inches high at the time with a ruddy freckled complexion, brown hair and hazel eyes. He was sent to Carters Barracks on arrival.
