Convict Notes
Samuel was recorded as being 16 years old at the Old Bailey trial, but was in fact 19. He was convicted along with John Burton (Asia 1840 to VDL) and George Williamson (Lord William Bentick 1838 VDL) for entering the dwelling house of William Tomlin at St Anne, Limehouse, and stealing 8 spoons £2.12.0, 3 handkerchiefs 9s., 1 coat £1.10.0, 1 pair of shoes 5s., 2 pairs of spectacles £2, 1 thimble 1s., 2 fourpenny pieces and 1 £20 bank note. Samuel's sister Sarah was also transported (Planter 1838 NSW) and his other sister Mary was transported on the Henry Wellesley 1835 NSW. They were the children of Adam Weatherstone and his wife Elizabeth nee Butts. Adam was a watchman and labouer and they lived in Little Harry Court of Brook Street, Ratcliff, London. Samuel was 5'2.5" tall, light brown hair, grey eyes. Samuel was assigned to Dr. Dobie. 19/8/1846: TOL Clarence River 1/5/1851: CP 27/1/1849: Married Letitia Dougherty (1825-1890). They had 5? children. 1857: Was a stockman. His later occupation was listed as a stockman/farmer. 27/2/1888: Samuel died at Grafton NSW and both he and Letitia are buried at the South Grafton General Cemetery.
