TICKETS OF LEAVE CANCELLED. THE Tickets of Leave granted to the following persons have been cancelled, for the reasons set against their respective names, viz. Hindostan, Joseph Webb- Making away with money belonging to his master. By Command of His Excellency the Governor, ALEXANDER M'LEAY. Colonial Secretary's Office, 6 November 1832. The following may refer to this prisoner, although the name in the report is Richard Webb. Most of the prisoners convicted at this session of the Essex Assizes were transported on Hindostan. ESSEX ASSIZES. The assizes for this county finished on Saturday afternoon. Of 93 prisoners in the gaol, about 45 were discharged by proclamation, for want of evidence, or bills being found. No less than 21 were capitally convicted were capitally convicted and received sentence of death, viz —John Paul Gooch, Christopher Twitchett, John Edwards, Richard Webb, John Smith and Joseph Cooper for horse-stealing ; ... Of these unhappy convicts, the Lord Chief Baron left five for execution, ... Statesman, Mon 19 Mar 1821.
