It appears that he was in the company of a person named William Bell, who was on horseback; Webb being somewhat under the influence of drink, mounted the horse with Bell. They had not proceeded far when the horse commenced bucking, throwing them both heavily to the ground. Bell escaped unhurt, but Webb got kicked in the forehead, and received a severe injury to the spinal cord, causing paralysis. He lingered till Wednesday evening, when death put an end to his sufferings. His funeral took place this afternoon, and was attended by a number of the inhabitants. He leaves a wife and two children totally unprovided for. The general opinion appears to be that it would be highly charitable to have the children sent to the orphan school.
