The 'Ocean' was an English merchant ship and whaler built in 1794 at South Shields, England. In 1803 she accompanied the ship 'Calcutta' to Australia, acting as a transport supply ship. When the settlers abondoned Port Phillip, Melbourne, Victoria the ship transferred convicts, settlers and marines to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania). In 1815, 1817 & 1823 the 'Ocean' transported convicts to New South Wales.

He was tried for burglary at Somerset Assizes, sentenced to Life & arrived in NSW as a convict on 1 1 1818 after a voyage of 4.5months on OCEAN. He was an emancipist when he married firstly Sarah (Peaulet age16 her first marriage) on 7 2 1820 at St Matthews CofE Windsor. She had a second relationship with William (Dixon) whom she married on 5 6 1871 at Upper Mangrove. She was often referred to as Sarah (Craft) her stepfathers name. She is recorded at Upper Mangrove NSW on 5 6 1871. She died on 2 11 1872 mother of 9children. Sarah Peaulet was the daughter of James Peaulet (First Fleet Convict, 1788, “Scarborough”) and Sarah Robinson (Convict, 1801, “Earl Cornwallis”). Sarah was also sometimes known as Sarah Craft because her long standing, step-father was Joseph Craft (Third Fleet Convict, 1791, “Albermarle”).
