Thomas William Weetman was transported on the Waterloo, departing 30th May 1842 and arriving 23rd Nov 1842 with 220 passengers.
1829 - Waterloo's first voyage arrived at Sydney Cove 9 July 1829. 180 Male Convicts. 2 Died on voyage. 7 sent to the hospital on landing. Total mustered; 171. Stephen Addison - Commander Michael Goodsire - Surgeon Superintendent [His wife was a passenger] 1842 - The Waterloo voyage of 1842 was wrecked on 28/8/1842. 189 people drowned, these being 143 convicts, 15 men of the 99th Regiment, together with 17 wives and children, the boatswain Mr. Chiverton, the sailmaker, the carpenter and 11 of the crew. Convicts were then received in Cape Town Prison from the wreck of the Waterloo, 2nd September 1842. They then completed their voyage to VDL per “Cape Packet” which arrived on 23/11/1842.

Convict Notes
Thomas Weetman was transported for 'stealing £23 from a shop in Huddersfield' which he broke into. Thomas was one of 113 convicts saved from the wreck of the Waterloo on 28/8/1842. One hundred and eighty nine people drowned, these being 143 convicts, 15 men of the 99th Regiment, together with 17 wives and children, the boatswain Mr. Chiverton, the sailmaker, the carpenter and 11 of the crew. Thomas was then received in Cape Town Prison from the wreck of the Waterloo, 2nd September 1842. Thomas arrived in VDL per "Cape Packet" which arrived on 23/11/1842. Thomas was 26 years old, born in Oldham, 5'8 1/2" tall, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, could read and write, pockpitted, 3 scars on corner of right eye, lost part of forefinger on left hand. Thomas was married to Sarah and had 1 child. Father: William Mother: Catherine Sister: Marian - all at native place. 27/6/1848: TOL 7/9/1848: Larcent - under £5 - 12 months imprisonment. 2/10/1849: TOL revoked. 2/6/1852: Free Certificate. 24/9/1872: Thomas died - he was felling a tree when a spur of the tree hit him on the back of the skull, fracturing his skull and killing him instantly. Found no marriage or children.
