The following have been indicted to stand trial at the ensuing circuits: … At Dumfries-Helen Kennedy, murder, and David Weir, a sheep-stealing. ... Caledonian Mercury, 6 April 1812. David Weir, accused of stealing sheep. The libel was restricted, and Weir being found guilty, was sentenced to 14 years transportation. The Scots Magazine, 1 May 1812.
