Francis WEIR was convicted at Glasgow, Scotland on 13 April 1824 for stealing sheep skins. Gaol Report: "bad". 14 yr transportation sentence. Hulk report: "orderly". Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania), Australia per the ship 'Sir Charles Forbes' arriving there 1825. Single man. Colony of VDL: Assigned to work service. 13 June 1826: Assigned to Capt. Wood - idleness and neglect of duty. 50 lashes. 23 Oct 1829: Wilful perjury. Bailed to take trial should the Lt. Gov., choose to do so. Ticket of Leave granted. 20 May 1834: Out after hours. Reprimanded. 1 Sept 1836: Conditional Pardon approved. 26 Feb 1838: Lt. Gov., has been pleased to approve this man being allowed to proceed to Port Phillip (Victoria) in the service of Messrs Wood Rissell/Russell & others.
