ASSIZE INTELLIGENCE. At Winchester there were 16 prisoners for trial, five of whom were capitally convicted, viz ... John Gains and Isaac West, for robbing George Noyes on the highway near Whippingham, in the Isle of Wight; ... They were all reprieved except Robert Avery. Staffordshire Advertiser, 16 March 1805.

4/3/1805 Salisbury and Winchester Journal Wiltshire, England: WINCHESTER John Gains, and Isaac West, for robbing Mr. George Noyes on the highway in the Isle Wight. John Gains/Gaines was also on board. Occupation: Farmer/Saddler 17/9/1809 Sydney Gazette: Isaac West and John Duncan were indicted, Isaac West for breaking and entering the house of Elizabeth or Sarah Hill on the 17th of August last in the day time, and stealing therefrom articles to the value of 27s ; and John Duncan for receiving the said articles knowing them to have been stolen. Isaac West 300 lashes and five years to Port Darymple ; John Duncan 14 years transportation. (Isaac not listed on VDL records). 16/10/1809: Stealing poultry and rabbits the property of John Palmer. 21/4/1810: Stealing cedar. 1814: TOL 24/5/1814: Isaac West died in the Hawkesbury river. 28/5/1814 Sydney Gazette: On Tuesday last the dead body of Isaac West, a man well known as a bullock-driver, was found in the River Hawkesbury. An Inquest was the day following convened by T. HOBBY, Esq. Coroner,— Verdict—Accidental Death.
