John West, along with his brother Robert West, was convicted on 11/04/1844 for stealing sheep and hay. 15yr transportation sentence - to Van Diemens Land. Protestant; read & write; ploughman/farm labourer; 5'9"; 36yrs; married; ruddy complexion; dk brown hair; blue eyes. Native Place: Farnhurst at Petworth. Station Gang: St. Mary's Vale 1846: Adams, Deloraine 1847: J. Cox, Deloraine June 1853-1857 absent 10/06/1859: Ticket of Leave 27/09/1859: Ticket of Leave revoked no details on record of Pardon etc. (Brother Robert West died at Port Arthur)
