Sussex Assizes. Transportation for life. Richard West, 55. Henry West, 17, labourers, charged with having in the night of the 6th day of February instant, at Beeding, stolen one sheep, the property of James Singer Turner. The prisoner, Richard West, made a voluntary confession to the Magistrates in his examination ; that he and his son were out with a gun ; that they taw two men who threw the thing down,— namely, the sheep in a sack. The prisoners took it home — Guilty— Transported for Life. Hampshire Advertiser, 28 March 1835.
