Robert West, along with his brother John West, was tried and convicted of stealing sheep and hay. 15 yr transportation sentence to Van Diemens Land. Gaol Report: Good Ship Surgeon's Report: Good Station Gang: St. Mary's Vale, 1yr 9mths. Emerged 09/06/1846. 09/06/1846: Misconduct in trafficking with a hawker. Probation extended 2yrs. 29/11/1847: Reid, Longford - absent. 14 days solitary. 21/03/1848: Reid, Longford - Felony. Committed for trial. 06/04/1848: Launceston Supreme Court - stealing oats, the property of Charles Reid. Transportation 7yrs. To be sent to Port Arthur Penal settlement for 2yrs. Died at Port Arthur 25/08/1848. (Brother John also transported to Van Diemens Land)
