Charles Wheeler was 22 years old when indicted along with James Settree (Fortune) and Edward Drouet for stealing a heifer and slaughtering it. All were sentenced to death. Charles was a "drover". 27/8/1823: Carter & storekeeper at the Government Stock Establishment, Cawdor. His services no longer required at Cawdor. 2/9/1823: Prisoner attached to the Cawdor Government Stock Department, to be returned into Government employ at Sydney. 10/7/1834: CP Charles resided at Cawdor and later at Cobbity. In 1831 he had a son James, in 1833 he married Jame's mother, Mary Nash/Hanson, a widow who arrived in 1828 on the Borneo with a son, Joseph Hanson. They had 6 or 7 more children. In the 1840's Charles made his way to the district of Corryong, Victoria, ad took up Nariel Run. He went on to be a pioneer of the district.
