Moreton Bay Convict Records. Michl. Whelan, per Eliza 3, Tried at Co. Dublin, 21 Jun 1826 for Sheep stealing, 7 years, trade- Labourer. Colonial Sentence: tried at Crim. Court at Sydney, 27 Nov 1828, for Cattle stealing,14 years commuted from Death recorded. Run 3 Feb, ret 4th Feb 1830; Run 11 Feb1832. Ret 22 Nd Feb 1832. Run 31 Oct 1832, Ret 17 Nov 1832. Run 6 Feb 1837, ret 15 May 1837. Run 12, ret 30th Apr 1838. Description: Native of Limerick, age 23, 5 ft 6, sallow comp, brown hair, blue eyes, R.C. religion. ---------------------------------------------------- Michael Whelan, indicted for stealing two sheep, the goods Thomas Rlooney; and in a second count, of stealing a sheep, the property a person unknown. The first count was not sustained, in consequence of the absence of a witness, but the prisoner was found guilty upon the second count. Sentence of death recorded.
