WEXFORD ASSIZES. Monday the Assizes for the County of Wexford commenced. … Patrick Whelan and John Whelan, the latter very young boy, son of the former, was placed at the bar charged stealing a ewe and lamb, the property of John Godkin. The prisoner, together with the boy his son, exhibited a wretched appearance. The elder prisoner was found Guilty ; the boy, against whom there was no evidence, was acquitted. Sentence postponed. Drogheda Journal, 4 Aug 1827.
