George Whiley was 44 years old when transferred from the Hulk Justica to the Tortoise. His crime was "Polygamy" he had been married 4 times, to Mary Walsh, then had a child with June Walker? then married Mary a Arnold and then Hannah "Strine"?? in 1835.(Apologies, the conduct record was difficult to decipher). His occupation was a "Book Seller".
George was 47 years old.
The Tortoise arrived on the 19/2/1842.
George died at Salt Water Creek which was a penal settlement 26 kilometres from Port Arthur and was said to be more barbaric than Port Arthur.
