Since our last was committed to York Castle for trial, David Whitaker of Halifax, shopkeeper, charged upon oath, on suspicion of forging and altering a bill of exchange, from fifteen pounds to fifty pounds, drawn by Messrs. Jones and Co. of Manchester upon Jones and Co. bankers, London. Porcupine, 15 May 1801. Yorkshire Assizes. Monday the assizes for the county of York were closed, when Sir Alan Chambre passed sentence on the prisoners who had taken their trials, as follows: - … David Whitaker, for forgery ; .. received sentence of death. Hull Packet, 4 Aug 1801.




Worked in Halifax Yorkshire UK. Married Jane Walsh @ 1819 in NSW. WALSH was Irish convict who came to Australia @1816 on HMS Canada. David dies in his sons house in Maitland NSW.
