Elizabeth (Sugden) Whitaker is widely believed to have died in 1879 but this is incorrect. I have a death cert from 1879 which shows that this Elizabeth had only been in NSW for a few years. George's wife probably died in 1841 at Towrang Stockade and is buried in a creekside grave there.
