In records subsequent to his completing his 7 year sentence the spelling of his name changed from Whitchurch to Whitechurch. He spent much of his life in the Hawkesbury area. In the 1870s he was the town water carrier in Windsor. He had one child when he was about 60 years old, also known as James Whitechurch, illegitamately with Harriet Oram, who subsequently styled herself Harriet Whitechurch. He died in Liverpool Asylum.
